Ash Wednesday: We gather each year to kick off the season Lent with Ash Wednesday. It is a day where we remember the blessing from Scripture that we are mortal. In Genesis, God digs Divine hands into the dirt and crafts humans from the stuff of the earth. We says this blessing over each other, “We are dust, and to dust we will return.” A curious blessing, but it reminds us that we are mortal and this one, wild life is indeed a gift. Let us gather and receive the life that God breaths into the dust of us and the dust of the world around us. This year for Lent, we will be going through a study called “Bless the Lent We Actually Have” from Kate Bowler’s book “Bless the Lives We Actually Have.”
