Presenter: Jeanna Swanson, Director of New Hope
Have you heard of the New Hope Resource Center? What is it? As indicated on their website, New Hope is “a faith-based ecumenical social service organization. We are supported by local churches and by generous community contributions.
Our mission is to serve basic human needs in North Spokane County including the communities of Riverside, Elk, Chattaroy, Colbert, and Mead. We do this without prejudice or discrimination, following Christ’s example.”
The resource center is in our backyard, and several members of our congregation are involved in assisting it to thrive. Jeanna Swanson, the Director, is going to join us this week to share her experience and vision for this wonderful program. Who is Jeanna?
“Jeanna grew up just north of Spokane and graduated from Mead High School. She moved on to WSU where she competed on the track and field team and eventually became a Registered Dietitian. At WSU she met her husband, Ben. The two moved to Western Washington for Jeanna’s internship and Ben’s job. Jeanna then worked as a RD for the Snohomish County Women, Infants, and Children Program and local hospitals.
When their son was about a year old, the couple moved back to the Spokane area. Since then, Jeanna has coached many youth sports teams, homeschooled her son, and also began volunteering at New Hope 16 years ago. At New Hope she began by helping around the office with miscellaneous tasks and driving seniors. Approximately 10 years ago she became the Client Services Coordinator. In this volunteer position she facilitated the committee of church representatives and special events. She also served two terms on the Board of Directors.
In addition to volunteering, Jeanna enjoys her family, her Northview church commitment, her garden, animals, and going to the lake.”
We hope you will join us for this informative presentation. The class will begin on Sunday morning at 10:30 in person in rooms 13 and 14 or on Zoom. The Zoom link is ID: 976 0612 3777. There is no passcode. Just put in the ID.
