Presenter: Dr. David Harrington
Adult Education for Sunday, November 21, 2021. David’s topic this morning will be to explore the concept that has been in our midst since the founding of our country, that America is a Christian nation.
Here is what David writes about this class:
“Christian nationalism is a movement based in the belief that the U.S. is meant to be a Christian nation. It advocates a number of ways to ‘take back’ the U.S. for God and is one part of an interlocking constellation of disturbing and increasing authoritarian trends in our country. This presentation shall provide an overview and review of a number of investigations into this movement and will also review why the separation of religion and state became enshrined in the Constitution.”
David is living in Colville and we are excited to welcome him to our class. He is a retired college administrator and professor who received his Ph.D. from Penn State University in philosophical psychology and an MA from Seattle University in clinical psychology. He taught psychology and social sciences at a number of colleges (including Central Methodist University) before becoming the academic dean at Sheldon Jackson College, a Presbyterian college in Sitka, Alaska. Later he was the instructional dean at Front Range Community College in Colorado. He is also a Registered Nurse and has practiced in a number of facilities in critical care, emergency and geriatric care.
We are happily meeting in room 13/14 with masks and socially distanced seating 10 or 15 minutes after the close of the morning worship. We hope you will join us for this fascinating conversation, either in person or on Zoom. The link will be in the newsletter, or contact the church office.
