On November 14, Gordon Jackson presents his second Adult Ed topic on Christianity and writing.
Gordon Jackson, a member of Covenant UMC since 2015, is a retired journalism professor and an author of 17 books. He came from South Africa to the United States for his education at Wheaton College and then Indiana University for graduate work. He was a member of the faculty at Whitworth University until his retirement. He continues to be involved in a number of nonprofit efforts.
Last week he spoke about how his Christian faith informs his writing. He talked about the process of writing and how his faith acts as a filter for all of his work. He also encouraged all of us to use our gifts of creativity as an expression of God’s gift to us.
This week he will focus on his fiction writing. Many of us at Covenant have read one or both of his first two novels, The Church That Used to be St. Elmo’s and Never Say “Moist” at Wyndover College. He will discuss how these novels came to be, as well as his forthcoming novel. It is about short-term missions and is titled The Mission Trip to San Pedro 2.
Please join us either in the sanctuary or on Zoom for this important and delightful session. We will begin approximately 10 minutes after the close of the morning worship service. The zoom link is sent out in our newsletter, or contact the church office.
